The hybrid was heavily favored over battery electric vehicles, and 57 percent of those who preferred electric vehicles would rather have a hybrid car, while 2 percent said they would prefer a battery electric vehicle.

This gas engine uses Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management to save fuel for what Honda expects to be class-leading mpg numbers.

A new two-motor plug-in hybrid system will be available on the Accord sedan, but not the coupe. Otherwise, Accord is full of technology for the new model year, including Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning.

Both the Accord Sedan and the Accord Coupe models are expected to achieve class-leading fuel economy ratings and will be available with a number of innovative new safety and technological features.

While the 2012 Prius v looks a lot like its smaller sibling, the Prius, the body shape reminds me of the Mazda5, a mini-minivan. The Prius v was designed with families in mind. Case in point: the small steps leading to the second-row seats. These three small steps are perfectly placed for the smaller, car-seat-riding crew.

Yes, the Prius v's step-in height is a tad higher than the regular Prius, but that made loading the littlest ones into their child-safety seats easier on my back.

The CR-V's power is just enough for nearly any kind of daily driving you'll encounter. The CR-V's only shortcoming on the road is the gearing of the automatic transmission. Ford's Escape finally knocked the CR-V off its throne in 2011. This hurt sales of many of its vehicles, including the previous CR-V.

The rest of the CR-V's interior is straightforward and adorned only by necessity. Seating in the CR-V is a comfortable affair, if you're up front. But the rear seats and their church-pew flat seat backs left a little to be desired over long rides. Also nifty is an all-new flip-and-fold feature for the rear seats that's standard on all CR-Vs. The result is an almost flat cargo area that swallows just under 71 cubic feet of gear, a small decrease from the previous CR-V.

It too is a more complete, mature look versus the previous CR-V. Safety features on all CR-Vs includes six air bags, traction control, anti-lock brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system.
