2012 WRX STI LIMITED

In the small car segment, the WRX STI Limited.is often overshadowed by more popular nameplates. The Impreza's most notable edge is its distinctive powertrain, as this model has always been available with all-wheel drive. Current Subaru Impreza
The Subaru Impreza is offered as a sedan or four-door hatchback. Both body styles come in a dizzying multitude of trims: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, WRX, WRX STI Limited Premium, WRX Limited and  2010 WRX STI. The hatchback adds the Outback Sport to the mix, while the sedan gets a loaded WRX STI Limited.

The 2.5i and Outback Sport models have a horizontally opposed 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. All engines send their power to all four wheels via the standard all-wheel-drive system.
Performance versions of the Impreza run from mild to wild. The WRX STI Limited gains even more aggressive styling flourishes, an upgraded suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brakes and aggressively bolstered sport seats.

In reviews, we've found that this Subaru Impreza provides enjoyable levels of performance. Used Subaru Impreza Models
The current Subaru Impreza represents the car's third generation that debuted for 2008. The second-generation Subaru Impreza was sold from 2002-'07. Powering non-2010 WRX STI models was a 2.5-liter engine making 165 hp. The WRX had a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine making 227 hp. Transmission choices included a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. For 2006, Subaru updated the WRX STI Limited. front styling again and introduced updated engines. The renamed 2.5i trim levels came with 173 hp, while the WRX sedan and wagon gained a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine producing 230 hp.

From 2004-'07, Subaru also sold the ultra-high-performance 2010 WRX STI. At the time, we found the second-generation Subaru Impreza to be one of the best performance cars available for the money. Additions included a two-door coupe model, the Outback wagon and a larger 135-hp 2.2-liter engine option. The first-generation WRX STI Limited.continued to improve in its later years. A year later, the desirable Impreza 2.5 RS debuted.
The regular 2010 WRX STI has been completely redesigned. Last year's high-performance WRX STI Limited .and STI variants carry over unchanged. Thanks to standard all-wheel drive and a strong safety record, the Subaru Impreza has become a popular alternative to more well-known small sedans and hatchbacks in the compact class. It's less powerful than the 2.5 liter, but offers better fuel economy; Subaru even claims the Impreza is the most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive gasoline-fueled car you can buy.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The redesigned 2010 WRX STI is available as a sedan or hatchback. Both come in 2.0i, 2.0i Premium and 2.0i Limited trim levels, while the hatchback adds 2.0i Sport Premium and 2.0i Sport Limited trims. The WRX and STI trim levels are high-performance versions of the previous-generation WRX STI Limited.

The Alloy Wheel package adds 17-inch wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter. The WRX is a high-performance version of the previous-generation Impreza and differs in many areas from the regular model. WRX STI Limited., WRX Premium and WRX STI Limited.trim levels are available. The base WRX is equipped similarly to the 2.0i Premium, but includes a turbocharged engine, a sport-tuned suspension, special 17-inch wheels, summer performance tires and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter. The WRX Limited adds xenon headlights and leather upholstery. The WRX STI Limited.is equipped similarly to the base WRX, but ups the performance ante even further. The WRX STI Limited adds foglights, 18-inch BBS wheels, a sunroof and leather upholstery. The 2012 Subaru Impreza 2.0i models feature a 2.0-liter, horizontally opposed "boxer" four-cylinder engine that produces 148 hp and 145 pound-feet of torque.

A five-speed manual transmission is standard and is coupled to a "symmetrical" all-wheel-drive system with a 50/50 front/rear power distribution. The Impreza WRX gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder that produces 265 hp and 244 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual and the symmetrical all-wheel-drive system are obligatory. A six-speed manual is standard. Every WRX STI Limited.comes standard with stability and traction control, antilock disc brakes, front side airbags and side curtain airbags. Whether new or old, the Impreza features a spacious interior. Ride quality for the WRX models is acceptable considering the available performance.

Of course, rather than hop in to a run of the mill 2.5 RS or WRX TR, we thought we'd hop in to Subaru's halo car, the WRX STI LIMITED. Dammit, we're important and we need a car that can convey this, so rather than hop into a standard WRX STI LIMITED, we convinced Subaru to give us one last spin in its WRX STI Limited. In a nutshell, the WRX STI Limited is the "adult" version of the standard STI. The STI Limited also benefits from a full power moonroof. Again, this car is targeted towards "adults".

Though all the wings and bling are gone, all the good stuff that makes a WRX STI a WRX STI LIMITED is present and accounted for. Drivers of the STI Limited can still use the STI-spec center differential control to alter the amount of power sent to the rear wheels. It's a great package, and Subaru really didn't need to alter anything for this Limited-spec car. Of course, the WRX STI Limited drives rather well - but it's not the be-all-end-all awesome ride.

We don't know if someone abused this STI before us, or if perhaps the car's Bridgestone Potenzas are that sticky, but steering the STI feels a bit skittish on the freeway. Driving straight at moderate freeway speeds, the STI's steering wheel seemed to dance around in our hands. The Subaru WRX STI really is a fantastic machine; it is so much fun to drive, we can easily overlook its flaws. The '08 WRX STI LIMITED is on the way, but Subaru has yet to announce if and when the brand new STI will see release. Still, the 2010 WRX STI is damn fine vehicle, and we can't wait to see what the next-gen STI will bring. It looks as if you STI owners aren't as vocal as the EVO guys. Oh well, we got one reader-submitted WRX STI Limited. I purchased a 2010  STI in November 2012. Blue with Silver wheels. The WRX is a fine car, but the STI is simply so much more. First off, this car is fast.....really fast. I can put all 3 in the back seat in their car seats. My wife actually likes the seats in this car. She hated my WRX STI Limited 's seats, but the STI's seats

seem to fit her much better. The STI got 5 star ratings for most major safety tests. The STI also got very high reliability ratings, especially for a performance car like this. The EVO is a fine car with similar performace characteristics, but it simply can't match the STI in these 2 important areas.

Ann Arbor - Subaru is finally offering an STI without the cop-magnet, boy-racer livery. A power moonroof, new leather seats, and additional undercarpet soundproofing--all at no charge--make the WRX STI LIMITED cabin a bit more hospitable, but you're reminded of the WRX STI LIMITED econocar roots when road noise infiltrates. All STI models have an updated drivetrain for 2010 WRX STI. We still wish the WRX STI LIMITED had the telepathic steering and the cohesive handling of Mitsubishi's Lancer Evolution, but the Subaru's bigger-displacement four-cylinder trumps the Evo's powerplant in power and character. If you want an WRX STI LIMITED to live with every day, buy an "ordinary" model with silver paint and silver wheels and hack off the wing with a Sawzall. A rally car shouldn't have leather seats and a moonroof, anyway.

ASSOCIATE EDITOR JONATHAN WONG;
The STI is back, baby! Erase those horrid memories of the previous WRX STI LIMITED with abundant body roll and numb steering response. And Subaru has brought back the sedan, big wing and all. Getting back to the present day, Subaru has heard and, most important, responded to its loyal followers by returning the WRX STI LIMITED sedan to the lineup and made big strides in tightening up the car. The result is a car that responds to steering inputs quicker and with far less body roll, dive under braking and understeer.I forgot how much I love driving the WRX STI LIMITED.
 EXECUTIVE EDITOR--AUTOWEEK.COM BOB GRITZINGER:
I know it's heresy to suggest this, but I may be partial to the everyday WRX over this higher-end, higher-output, higher-complexity WRX STI LIMITED version. Point, pedal, steer, shoot. What a great car.I could do without the big wing, but I love the near-V8 muscle-car-like rumble Subaru engineered into this car's exhaust note. The STI certainly fits that bill. Most important, the car is fun to drive. I love it. Subaru styling has a habit of growing on me. The wing is classic Subaru; it wouldn't be a WRX STI LIMITED without one. It's a wild-looking car, lots of curves and movement in the front.

2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI

2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI While we’ve seen the all-new 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI earlier this year, we have yet to hear much about the ultimate high-performance version of the car, the 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI.

The 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show allowed Subaru to unveil the Impreza Design Concept, a preview version of the next generation Impreza. Starting with this theme, the WRX STI version adds requisite fender flares, a top-mount intercooler, and, that massive wing on the back.

UPDATE 07/14/2011: New details about the future generation Subaru Impreza WRX suggest that, starting 2014, the Impreza and the WRX will go their separate ways. UPDATE 11/18/2011: During their presence at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, Subaru has offered new details on the next WRX STI model. UPDATE 12/08/2011: The Subaru 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI has been rumored to deliver up to 300 HP, but new details are suggesting that the standard model will actually use a turbocharged version of the BRZ 2.0-liter boxer engine with an output of about 270 HP. Hit the jump to read more about the 2012 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI

What is the difference between the 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI and 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI Limited? Here is what we know: The differences between the 2012 Impreza WRX STi and the STi Limited are cosmetic. The wheels are 17 inches on the STi and 18 inches on the STi Limited. The red stitching that goes down the center of the seats in the STi is missing in the STi Limited. The STi Limited also has a moon roof. Below are some images of the 2012 STi and STi Limited.

Last year, Subaru moved its high-performance 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI lineup away from the regular Impreza line with wider, more performance-oriented bodywork for the regular models as well as the top-of-the-line STi, and expanded STi offerings with a four-door sedan body style in addition to the previous five-door hatch. The sedan featured the return giant rear wing that has was the original STi trademark. "The wing is back!" trumpeted Subaru. Stealth factor? Compared to the 2011 version, the 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI benefited from suspension tuning lessons learned from the 010 Special Edition, further developed for even better response, cornering ability, grip, and ride comfort. The ride is appropriately firm, but not punishing, and with its blend of performance prowess and functional comfort, 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI is a perfect daily driver for those who accept it for what it is.

As ever, the newest 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI sedan is about as subtle as a thermonuclear bomb. The styling is perfect for the WRX and especially STi's place in the world, and is actually toned down compared to the original STi. COMFORT: In the first STi, floor mats and an audio system were nowhere to be found. The STi is a driver's car, but there is ample space for two or three passengers in the rear. Active safety is more up to the driver, but said STi driver gets the Brembo Performance Brake System, with four-wheel vented discs and four-piston front, dual-piston rear calipers plus ABS, EBD, and Brake Assist and the traction and handling potential of real four-wheel drive and the STi's upgraded suspension.

As ever, the STi uses the highest-performance version of Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, which includes the ``Driver-Controlled Center Differential'' (DCCD). Front and rear limited-slip differentials take care of side-to-side traction. PERFORMANCE: The STi's heart is its 2.5-liter horizontally-opposed turbocharged and intercooled engine. Fuel economy is not likely a major reason for STi purchase, so no demerits. Unlike the regular WRX, the STi has "Subaru Intelligent Drive", or SI-DRIVE.

We almost don't want to tell you about the new 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI. Why? It's yet another special STI limited edition built exclusively for Japanese domestic consumption.
We've driven them all and been suitably impressed with every car. Powering the S206 is a version of Subie's turbocharged 2.0-liter boxer from the 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI. Built off of the outgoing WRX STI platform, the S206's suspension gets specially fitted inverted Bilstein dampers, STI coil springs, and a flexible front strut tower brace, while those 19-inch rims are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sports rubber (245/35ZR19), highlighting huge six-piston Brembo calipers with drilled rotors.

Compared to the current 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI, the S206 displays beefier torque between 3200 and 4400 rpm -- where you need most for quicker cornering exits. Back in the pits, Tatsumi lets on that his team has brought across some "little secrets" from the STI race car, which they are preparing for a second Nurburgring 24-hour challenge in 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI.
A carbon roof that improves ride quality? This car simply begs you to push it harder each lap. Tatsumi tells us that he wanted his team to build a car that wasn't just the best STI so far, but create a car that communicates so well with drivers that it makes them better drivers, or at least feel as though they are better drivers. As Tatsumi points out, "if you want to drive this car, you'll have to come to Japan."

While the pedestrian 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI sedan and hatchback were thoroughly updated for 2012, the hot-rod Impreza WRX and 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI  models soldier on with the older and proven body style for another year. Both the WRX and STI are offered in either body style. The 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI continues with the 265-hp, 2.5-liter horizontally opposed engine, mated to a five-speed manual transmission and Subaru's characteristic all-wheel drive. If you want an automatic, you may not be a suitable 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI or STI buyer. The STI is jaw-droppingly quick, but can feel flat at low revs until the driver floors it. An SI-Drive controller giving the driver the choice of three different tunes--Intelligent (I), Sport (S), or Sport Sharp (S#)--is limited to the 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI model.

A center console switch offers no fewer than six settings to control the lockup behavior of the central differential, and a Super Sport ABS system controls each rear wheel individual to reduce understeer. Both the STI and WRX ride surprisingly well, soaking up ruts, potholes, and other bumps with confidence. The racing-style bucket seats hold the driver and front passenger firmly in place, but the fixed headrests project forward at an uncomfortable angle. The 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI models get fancier black Alcantara trim and upholstery with red stitching, front and rear, though the rear seats remain the standard-issue item from the regular 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI. Years ago, the 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WX STRI was an economy car with a remarkable engine, all-wheel drive, and handling. Today, 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI buyers would like some of the STI's features, and STI buyers may be eying BMWs or even Porsches in comparison.

2012 impreza wrx sti

For the first time in three years, Subaru is offering up a four-door sedan version of their performance icon, the IMPREZA WRX STI. This is the first time that Subaru has ever offered an STI in two body styles. That's right, you can also buy the five-door STI. New for the STI(s) this year is an improved suspension consisting of stiffer bushings, stiffer springs, and thicker anti-roll bars at both ends of the car. The 2011 STI also sports less unsprung weight than the 2010 model due to lighter 18-inch wheels that are a combined 17.6 pounds less heavy. For years, the Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI.

has been one of the world's least pretentious performance buys. In either sedan or hatchback trim, the car has presented itself as a conservative economy car. Meanwhile, the car's big brother – the IMPREZA WRX  – STI has been fitted with a completely reworked suspension and an all-new four-door body style.

"We managed to increase the track of the WRX by nearly 1.5 inches," says Martyn Harding, IMPREZA  STI car line manager for Subaru North America. In reality, Subaru has spread the WRX by 1.3 inches compared to the 2011 model—a big number by anyone's count—thanks solely to the car's wild new bodywork. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system, the combination returns 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Likewise, the IMPREZA WRX STI retains its old engine, though it produces a more muscular 305 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque.

The Drive
Though the added width and wider wheels and tires (now up to 17 x 8 inches on all four corners) help to keep the car planted, we couldn't help but notice that the extra grip simply makes the driver more aware of the car's softer springs and dampers compared to the WRX STI. Subaru has managed to sharpen both the WRX and the IMPREZA WRX STI for 2011, but in different ways. The base WRX now wears a body befitting a budget performance heathen while the mighty IMPREZA WRX STI has been given some much needed focus for the first time in years.

on't overthink this update to the 2011 Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI. Subtle Tweaks
From a powertrain perspective, nothing about the 2011 Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI has really changed. The antiroll bars are the same as those used for the 2011 Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI Special Edition: 21mm front and 19mm rear, each 1mm larger than in the 2010 WRX STI. Meanwhile the 2011 IMPREZA WRX STI rear subframe bushings have been stiffened to reduce deflection-induced camber changes in the wheel alignment. The STI's rear tires are more involved in the practice of turning the car than they were before.

Also important to note is that the only suspension parts the 2011 WRX STI shares with the standard WRX are the rear suspension subframe, rear control arms and the muffler. Not-So-Subtle Tweaks
For 2011 the Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI will be available as a sedan. New Enkei wheels for the STI are 4.4 pounds per corner lighter than the wheels that were standard for the 2010 STI. Forged BBS wheels are available as part of the Limited package for the STI sedan and are standard on the hatchback STI.
For all its newness, the 2011 Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI is essentially the same thumping STI we've been driving since 2008, and even the new sedan version is really no different. 2011 Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI
If you can do without the STI hardware, you'll find that the 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX shares the STI's wide-body styling (minus the massive free-standing wing). A side effect is a substantially wider track for the WRX, 1.3 inches in the front and 1.5 inches in the rear.

The Big Question
At a base price of $34,720 (including destination), the 2011 Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI Sedan costs $970 less than last year's STI five-door hatchback. The 2011 Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI starts at $26,220, including destination.

Aspen, Colorado—Rally-inspired cars are perfect for all types of adventures, on the road, track, or even on the dirt. And that’s exactly where I had the chance to drive the new 2011 Subaru WRX and IMPREZA WRX STI models. The new WRX also now shares the same wide-body design with its higher-performance STI sibling. Bringing the WRX closer to the STI in performance and looks, the car’s rear subframe attaches to the chassis with stiffer bushings, and both share the aggressive front end styling. On the curvy mountain roads between Aspen and the 12,000-ft. Independence Pass, the IMPREZA WRX STI tracks through corners with responsive turn-in and progressive steering feel.

The STI’s 2.5-liter flat-4, with 305 bhp and 290 lb.-ft. of torque, and the 6-speed manual transmission, remain unchanged. Look for the new 2011 Subaru WRX and IMPREZA WRX STI to show up in dealers late this summer or early in the fall. Pricing for the WRX starts around $25,000. At Calabogie Motorsports Park, the STI was as pleasing to drive as a Porsche Boxster — light, agile and plenty fast.
Understeer, which was notable in the previous STI, is much harder to inititate in the new car. I have driven a lot of different cars at the Calabogie track. The WRX STI ranks as one of the easiest and most fun.
The WRX will also feature a variant STI upon which a future WRC rally car will be based - a competition which Subaru plans to return to.
The WRX STI variant will feature that same powerplant setup dialed up to around the 304 PS (224 kW / 300 bhp) mark for a true WRC-linked road rager.

Work on the all-new WRX has been made easier by Subaru's involvement in the joint-venture Toyota sports car that is currently known as the FT-86 but is expected to hit Australian showrooms as the Toyota 86. This image, revealing how one artist sees the new WRX, shows the new two-door model with a shorter wheelbase and heavy-duty bodywork. "Apart from a few nuts and bolts, every part on the NEW WRX will be unique. Even the engine and body," says the Subaru source.
"Up until now, the Impreza and NEW WRX used many common parts, which translated into entry-level Imprezas that were over-engineered," says the Subaru source. "The basic chassis and suspension had to employ certain parts necessary for the WRX. Work on the upcoming WRX includes consideration of a turbocharged 1.6- litre boxer engine pumping out around 150 kiloWatts, while a twin- charger system involving a supercharger is being tested as well.

2012 wrx sti specs

At Calabogie Motorsports Park, the 2010 WRX STI was as pleasing to drive as a Porsche Boxster — light, agile and plenty fast.
Understeer, which was notable in the previous STI, is much harder to inititate in the new car. At one point in the testing of the STI, I had to be held back from driving the 2010 WRX STI since I kept claiming every available car that came into the paddock, such was the absolute joy and desire to whirl this car around a track as challenging as Calabogie.
I have driven a lot of different cars at the Calabogie track. The WRX STI SPECS ranks as one of the easiest and most fun.

Even the engine and body," says the Subaru source.
"Up until now, the Impreza and WRX STI SPECS used many common parts, which translated into entry-level Imprezas that were over-engineered," says the Subaru source. "The basic chassis and suspension had to employ certain parts necessary for the WRX. "Obviously the rally model will be based on the top-of-the-line STI car but, unlike previous Impreza WRXs, this new WRX sti specs will be more hardcore and less forgiving on bumpy road surfaces," adds our source.

He admits the FT-86 work with Toyota has helped the WRX. Work on the upcoming WRX STI SPECS includes consideration of a turbocharged 1.6- litre boxer engine pumping out around 150 kiloWatts, while a twin- charger system involving a supercharger is being tested as well.

For years, the Subaru WRX sti specs has been one of the world's least pretentious performance buys. In either sedan or hatchback trim, the car has presented itself as a conservative economy car. Meanwhile, the car's big brother – the WRX STI SPECS– has been fitted with a completely reworked suspension and an all-new four-door body style.

"We managed to increase the track of the WRX by nearly 1.5 inches," says Martyn Harding, Impreza car line manager for Subaru North America. In reality, Subaru has spread the 2010 WRX STI  by 1.3 inches compared to the 2010 WRX STI model—a big number by anyone's count—thanks solely to the car's wild new bodywork. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system, the combination returns 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Likewise, the 2010 WRX STI retains its old engine, though it produces a more muscular 305

horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. Taking the modifications responsible for the wrx sti specs  Edition a few steps further, Subaru’s 2010 WRX STI engineers aimed to improve grip, steering accuracy, and aerodynamics while reducing body roll and understeer. The front suspension changes allowed for stiffer rear springs—53 percent firmer compared with those of the standard 2010 STI, which surpasses the 29-percent increase granted to the Special Edition—as well as stiffer rear subframe bushings. The STI has progressed enough to revisit the past: The new model year resurrects the four-door-sedan body style, so 2011 will be the first year that an STI sedan and hatch are offered simultaneously, following the car’s switch to hatch only when this generation was launched for 2008. Limited models, which are sedan only, include leather seats, a sunroof, fog lights, and the lightweight forged BBS wheels.

 One More Sedan Advantage: Price
The 2011 four-door starts at $34,720, so it lowers the STI entry fee by a couple of grand compared with the 2010 wrx sti car. STI hatchbacks come in one trim level, starting at $36,720. The plain 2011 WRX  sti makes its progress in the styling department, inheriting the STI’s wide-body sheetmetal and revised grille shape, and the two now look nearly identical to each other. Considering that and the fact that the WRX sti specs will likely continue to be the quicker car to 60 mph—in our testing, the 2009–10 WRX hit the mark in 4.7 seconds compared with the STI’s 5.0—we think it’s tough to justify the STI’s $8500 premium.

During our weeklong stint with the 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI SPECS , many friends asked an all-too-obvious question: "How does it compare to the Mitsubishi Evolution?" In bringing back the proper four-door body style, Subaru fitted it with the iconic rear spoiler that adorned every generation of the STI up until the hatchback-only 2008 model. The STI's appearance has not changed for the 2011 wrx sti model year. The standard STI-spec 18-inch wheels still look fantastic and the front fascia looks as menacing as ever. We appreciate automakers that keep things simple when designing interiors – especially in cars that are solely made to be driven and driven hard – but we still wish the gray-plastic-smattered 2010 WRX STI interior were a bit more inviting.

Unlike the Mitsubishi Evo, which pairs its high-grade Evo MR with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, Subaru once again keeps it simple by solely offering a six-speed manual transmission in the WRX STI SPECS . Perfect rev-matching during downshifting is surprisingly easy to pull off in the STI, and though we'd want an easier setup for stop-and-go commuting, during serious driving, the STI's transmission fits our driving style perfectly.

Of course, one of the biggest features that separates the 2010 WRX STI from garden-variety WRX sti specs is that it comes with Subaru's SI-Drive on-the-fly dynamic adjustment feature. The improvement in throttle response is what really sells us here, and after long stints in Sharp, knocking the STI back into standard Sport mode just made the car feel sluggish. As you'd expect, the STI's suspension is substantially stiffer than the base setup in the WRX STI SPECS. Subaru has fitted the STI with 13-inch Brembo stoppers up front with six-piston calipers and 12.6-inch rotors with two-piston calipers out back.

The caveat here is that Fuji Heavy offers a host of upgrades from its Subaru Performance Tuning division that you can fit to your standard 2010 WRX STI for a nominal fee. Things like STI-spec shift linkage and brakes will easily give your 'Rex a more performance-tuned feel on the road, and even with the added cost of these up-fits, you'll still likely save money over an STI.

The WRX STI SPECS sedan adds a full $8,500 to that – $10,500 if you want the five-door hatchback. The STI is a hilariously fun car, but for most buyers, the smart money is on the less costly 2010 WRX STI..
Subaru has a knack for continuous improvement on its vehicles—particularly its performance-minded Impreza 2010 WRX sti and wrx STI specs models. Together, both of these models get a number of changes—most of which are now shared between the WRX and the STI.

The WRX and STI are both based on Subaru's Impreza compacts. The 2010 WRX STI continues to get a 265-horsepower, 2.5-liter horizontally opposed (boxer) four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission, with viscous-differential all-wheel drive, while the 2010 WRX STI gets a 305-horsepower, 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer four, six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel-drive system that includes the Driver-Controlled Center Differential (DCCD). That leaves an all-manual lineup for the WRX and STI, a factor that might be a deal-breaker for some.

Larger Brembo performance brakes are included with the 2010 WRX STI as well, and a Super Sport ABS system allows independent control of each rear wheel and reduces understeer. With any sports car, the engine is only part of the story, and this is especially true in the case of the WRX and STI. Subaru engineers have done a sublime job with the suspension tuning. Despite thicker anti-roll bars and stiffer springs being introduced last year, both the WRX STI SPECS and 2010 WRX STI

soak up bumps, ruts, potholes, and coarse surfaces with aplomb. Slide behind the steering wheel of either the2010 WRX STI or STI and you're greeted by a well-lit instrument cluster that's dominated by a large, centrally mounted tachometer. Note that 2010 wrx STI model gets more upmarket Alcantara trim, and for 2010, black Alcantara with red stitching replaces last year's gray and silver stitching. All Impreza variants come with side impact and side curtain airbags, electronic stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes with brake-force distribution and brake assist, and daytime running lamps as standard. Manual models also get hill start assist.

When the WRX STI SPECS finally made the trek to the States in 2002, followed by the WRX STI SPECS two years later, our thirst for rally-bred performance was satisfied – to a point.
Names like Spec C, Type RA, Type RAR, S202, S203, S204, WR1, Spec D and RB320 all begged the question: Why not here?

After countless caffeine-fueled late nights at Subaru of America HQ, we've finally got a hyped-up wrx STI specs of our own. Only the most irritatingly obsessive Subie aficionados could spot the Subaru WRX STI SPECS Edition from afar, as the sole exterior differences are its dark gray 18x8.5-inch, 14-spoke wheels pulled from the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) Spec C and Aspen White exterior (more colors to be available once the initial 125 units sell out).

That minimal ride height reduction comes courtesy of the JDM Spec C suspension, which has been swapped in unchanged from its Japanese cousin and features 16-percent stiffer front springs and 29-percent stiffer rear coils compared to the stock WRX STI SPECS. Inside, all of the important bits are present and accounted for, including the six-speed manual gearbox, Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD), driver-selectable Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) and beautifully bolstered front thrones (you get a plaque with the release number, too). The standard STI comes in at $34,995, while the Special Edition stickers for $32,995 (plus $695 for D&D). After a handful of laps it was obvious that a few minor tweaks in the rear and the JDM-spec suspension had changed – ever-so-
slightly – the character of our beloved WRX STI SPECS. With the STI, it feeds off the mistreatment.
